How to Use This Tool

  1. Choose your garment category — different garment types have different base minimums.
  2. Select complexity level. Basic solid-color garments carry the lowest MOQ; heavy embroidery or all-over prints raise it.
  3. Pick your fabric type. Standard cotton and polyester keep MOQ lowest; organic, bamboo, and modal fabrics need larger minimums.
  4. Click "Calculate MOQ" to see your estimated minimum order quantity, size/color flexibility, and production time.

MOQ FAQ

What is MOQ and why do manufacturers require it?
MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) is the smallest quantity a factory will produce per style. Manufacturers set MOQs because fabric is bought by the roll and production lines are set up per style, so very small runs aren't cost-efficient to produce.
Can I mix sizes and colors within the MOQ?
Yes. At SDF, the MOQ applies per style, not per size or color — you can typically mix sizes and up to 4 colors within your 300-piece minimum, as shown in the calculator results.
Why does complex embroidery or all-over print raise the MOQ?
Complex decoration (heavy embroidery, all-over prints) requires more setup time and higher minimums from trim and print suppliers, which the calculator reflects with its complexity multiplier.
Is the MOQ different for organic or bamboo fabric?
Yes. Organic cotton, bamboo, and modal fabrics are produced in smaller batches by mills, so factories often need a higher minimum order to justify sourcing them — the calculator's fabric multiplier accounts for this.
