A tech pack is a detailed specification document for one garment design. It includes flat sketches, measurements at every key point, fabric specifications, trim requirements, construction details, label placement, and a complete bill of materials (BOM).

Think of a tech pack as the construction blueprint for a building. The architect's vision is the design. The blueprint is what the construction team actually builds from. Without a blueprint, every contractor builds something different.

For garment manufacturing, the tech pack tells the factory exactly what to make. Two factories given the same tech pack should produce nearly identical garments. Two factories given the same design without a tech pack will produce different garments based on their interpretations.

• • Front and Back Flat Sketches: Detailed black-and-white drawings of the garment from front and back. Show every seam, pocket, design feature, and construction element. Color-coded variations for different colorways.

• • Trim and Label Specifications: Every trim used: buttons (size, color, material), zippers (length, type, color), drawcords, eyelets, snaps. Label specifications: main label, size label, care label content with placement instructions.
• • Bill of Materials (BOM): Itemized list of every material needed for one garment with quantities. Used by the factory for accurate quoting and material sourcing.
• • Care Instructions: Wash instructions specific to the garment construction and fabric. Required by law in most markets.
• • Packaging Specifications: How garments should be folded, packaged, and labeled for shipment. Polybag specifications and master carton requirements.
