What Garment Development Covers

Garment development is the complete process of transforming a fashion concept into a production-ready garment. It bridges the gap between design idea and manufacturing reality. Our development service handles every technical aspect — from material selection to final specifications — so you can focus on creative direction and brand building.

Whether you have a detailed sketch or just a vague concept, our development team works with you to create garments that meet your vision, quality standards, and target price point. We provide the technical expertise that many fashion brands lack in-house.

Concept and Inspiration Phase

Every garment starts with a concept. We begin by understanding your brand identity, target customer, and design vision. You can provide mood boards, reference images, sketches, or even describe your idea verbally. Our development team refines the concept into a clear design direction.

During this phase, we establish key parameters: garment category, silhouette, aesthetic details, target retail price, and production timeline. This foundation guides all subsequent development decisions.

Fabric and Trim Sourcing for Development

Material selection is critical to garment quality, cost, and performance. We source fabrics and trims from our network of 500+ suppliers across Bangladesh and internationally. All suppliers are vetted for GOTS, OEKO-TEX, and other relevant certifications.

We provide fabric swatches, technical specifications, pricing, and lead time information. You can choose from our curated material library or request custom developments. We also support clients who want to use their own fabric suppliers.

First Prototypes

Once materials are selected, we create the first prototype. This physical sample tests the design concept, construction methods, and basic fit. The prototype may use substitute fabrics if final materials are not yet available, allowing faster iteration.

You receive the prototype by courier for evaluation. We schedule a fit session (in-person or virtual) to review the sample, discuss what works and what needs adjustment, and plan revisions.

Fit and Proportion Refinement

Fit is what separates professional garments from amateur attempts. Our fit specialists evaluate the prototype on fit models and measurement forms. We assess proportions, balance, ease, and how the garment moves on the body.

Based on fit evaluation, we create revised samples with pattern adjustments. Most garments require 2-3 fit rounds to achieve the desired result. Each iteration refines the fit until it meets your standards and target customer expectations.

Tech Pack Creation

The tech pack is the blueprint for manufacturing. Once design and fit are finalized, we create a comprehensive technical specification package. This includes detailed technical drawings, measurements for all sizes, construction details, stitch types, material specifications, and quality requirements.

A complete tech pack ensures consistent production across batches and enables any manufacturer to reproduce your garment accurately. We deliver tech packs in industry-standard format compatible with production systems worldwide.

Pre-Production Sample

The pre-production sample (PP sample) is the final reference for bulk manufacturing. Made with actual production materials and confirmed patterns, the PP sample represents exactly what bulk production will deliver. Every detail — stitching, trims, labeling, packaging — matches final specifications.

You approve the PP sample before bulk production begins. This sample becomes the gold standard against which all bulk pieces are measured. Any deviations in production are identified by comparing to the PP sample.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does garment development service include?

Garment development covers the complete journey from concept to production-ready. This includes concept development and inspiration, fabric and trim sourcing, first prototype creation, fit and proportion refinement, tech pack creation, and pre-production sample development. We handle everything needed to take your idea from sketch to factory-ready specifications.

Do I need a complete design to start garment development?

No. You can start with just a concept, mood board, or even a verbal description. Our development team helps refine your vision, create technical drawings, source appropriate materials, and build prototypes. We work with brands at every stage from initial idea to detailed tech pack.

How long does garment development take?

Typical garment development timeline: Concept and material sourcing 7-10 days, first prototype 7-14 days, fit refinement and revisions 7-14 days, tech pack finalization 3-5 days, pre-production sample 7-10 days. Total from concept to production-ready: 4-6 weeks depending on complexity and number of revisions.

What is the difference between prototype and pre-production sample?

Prototype is the first physical sample made to test design, construction, and basic fit. It uses substitute materials if final materials are not yet sourced. Pre-production sample (PP sample) is the final sample made with actual production materials, confirmed fit, and all details exactly as bulk production will be. PP sample is the reference for bulk manufacturing.

Can you source fabrics and trims during development?

Yes. Fabric and trim sourcing is included in our garment development service. We source from our network of GOTS-certified, OEKO-TEX-approved suppliers. We provide swatches, pricing, and lead time information. You can also supply your own materials if you have preferred suppliers.

What happens after garment development is complete?

After development is complete, you receive a complete tech pack, approved pre-production sample, and all material specifications. You can then proceed to bulk production with us or take the development package to another manufacturer. Most clients continue with us for seamless transition to production.
